Bags on Ionia: Michigan’s Biggest Backyard Party Just Got Bigger

What began as a small tournament in the side parking lot of Peppino’s Sports Bar in downtown Grand Rapids has grown into one of the largest amateur cornhole events in the state of Michigan. Bags on Ionia is more than just a cornhole tournament — it’s a full-blown street party in the heart of the city.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, August 24th, 2025, as we take over one of downtown Grand Rapids’ most vibrant streets for a day of friendly competition, live music, prizes, and pure summer energy.

Thanks to the support of Cornhole America, the U.S. Amateur Cornhole League, and local businesses, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever. Whether you're a seasoned thrower or just in it for the vibes, there’s a place for you here — all skill levels are welcome.

🎯 Here’s what you can expect:

• Just $10 per player

• Every participant gets at least 6 games

• Top 3 teams in each pool win awesome prizes from our generous sponsors

• Red Bull will be cranking up the energy in the Grand Rapids Social Zone with DJs and live music
